Country Development

The two countries I have researched was Korea and Afghanistan. I was able to see Korea develop through the years whereas Afghanistan had not developed as much as Korea did. The big difference I have noticed was the birth rate, total population, life expectancy, income per person and HDI(Human Development Index).

Birth rate shows how many birth happens in every 1,000  in a country. There was not that much of a difference in birth rate around the 1800 but through the years I was able to see big difference. For example, in 1810 Korea’s birth rate was 42 but in Afghanistan it was 48. Korea and Afghanistan was not a developed country but throughout the years Korea became a MEDC(more economically developed country) which made their birth rate go down because it costed more money to look after a child and the country was more developed in health so they knew how to stop from having babies. On the other hand Afghanistan’s birth rate was always higher than Korea. It was because Afghanistan was a LEDC(less economically developed country) and they need the children’s help to do work for the parents such as farming and house works. Afghanistan did not have good quality of health care which meant that a lot of the children did not make it to the age of 5 so parents had more children just in case and sometimes they just didn’t know how to stop from having children. Also in Afghanistan their belief teaches that it is not good for the parents to kill their children when they are in their parents stomach so sometimes they have more.1800 Birth rateBirth rate 1960

There was an extreme difference in the total population. The total population shows how many people are currently living in the country. Since the 1800 Korea had more population than Afghanistan. It is because Korea was slightly more of a developed country than Afghanistan people were able to live longer.  For example, in 810 Korea’s population was 9395000 but in Afghanistan it was 3280000. Although, throughout the years Korea became more and more developed and they started to have better quality of health care which helped people to live longer. Also the public security was safer and still is safe for the citizens to live in compared to Afghanistan. Nowadays in 2015 Korea’s population is 50290000 but in Afghanistan it is 32530000.   Poplutation 18102015 population

There was not that much of a huge difference in life expectancy in the 1800 but I was able to see huge differences throughout the years. Life expectancy shows how many years on average a person lives in a country.  Also I was able to see Korea developing into a MEDC(more economically developed country) and Afghanistan staying as a LEDC(less economically developed country). For example, in 1813 Korea’s life expectancy was 26 years old but in Afghanistan it was 28 years old and there was not much difference but in the 1930 I was able to see the first big difference after 1800. In 1930 Korea’s life expectancy was 35 years old but in Afghanistan it was 28 years old. Life expecctancy 1873Life expectancy 1813

There was an extreme difference in the income per person starting in 1956.Income per person shows how much in average a person gets payed in a country.  Before 1956 Afghanistan had more income per person because during the 1800 because Japan wanted to control Korea so they were having a war so Korea did not have that much power. For example, in 1970 Korea’s income per person was $2142 but in Afghanistan it was $1174.  Income per person 1956GDP per person 2015

There was a huge difference in the HDI(Human Development Index) since the 1980.HDI measures the overall achievement in its social and economic way. I was able to see that Korea used their advantages to make their country a safe place for their citizens to live in. On the other hand Afghanistan was not able to use their advantages as much. In 1980 the HDI in Korea was 0.634 but in Afghanistan it was 0.198.2011 HDI1980 HDI1990 HDI

Overall Afghanistan was more of a developed country in the 1800 but through the years Korea was able to take their advantages and use it to develop into a MEDC and have better quality of healthcare and public security for the citizens in Korea. On the other hand Afghanistan was a LEDC just like Korea was they were not able to use their advantages as much as Korea did to develop into the MEDC.

PTSC Reflection Question

What are your strengths and weaknesses in Spanish?

My strength in Spanish is listening.Throughout the semester I have got better at understanding what Ms.Hill says in Spanish. My weakness in Spanish is writing complex sentences and using the new vocabulary I have learnt in class. Also I take time to remember the new vocabulary. It takes me time to write trying to use the new vocabulary but when I look at my notes I take less time to write.

How are you studying and engaging with the learning in order to master the material?

To master the materials I study the new vocabulary by writing the word and what it means in English 3 times a week. For the conjugations I use the spanishdict and read it over and over until it gets in my head. I do this 3 times a week. I think that I need to study spanish more often.

What could I do to help you?

I would like to start to write about a topic in Spanish 2 or 3 times a week so I would like you to check my work.

Expanding my comfort zone during G8 Field Studies

From the small building games I learned that it was important to be able to communicate, help and wait for each other. I learned this by playing the marshmallow activity. While doing the activity we had to communicate and tell people to not move and where to put there feet. We had to help each other out by holding hands and pulling each other and holding on to each other for balance. We also had to wait for the person behind us to put there feet on the marshmallow so we don’t loose it. I can apply this to real life situation when

From geocaching I learned that it was important to cheer on one another. While on our walk I was tired from walking the long, steep hill and I was kind of behind the rest of the group. Than Shion came up to me and said we can do this and walked together with me while talking. I can apply this to real life situation when someone is behind the others I can cheer people on so they can be motivated to catch up.

From rope and rock I learned that it was important to help people out when they are stuck. While I was rock climbing I could not see where I could put my feet but with the help of Chloe and Kotaro I was able to move my feet in the right direction I wanted to . Also when Chloe was doing the rock climbing Oliver, Kotaro and I was able to help her out so that she could reach the top. I can apply this to real life situation when someone is in a hard situation I can go back and help them.

I was able to get out of my comfort zone when I was rock climbing and rafting. I was getting out of my comfort zone when I was rock climbing because I get scared when I look down so I don’t normally do things that has to do with heights but at the field studies I was able to do an activity that required going high up.

I think that I found rock climbing and geocaching the hard activities. I found rock climbing a hard activity because when I look down I get scared so I try not to do these activities. I found geocaching as a hard activity because I don’t like to walk steep hills and also because at first we were not looking at the hint to find the word it took a long time to find the letters.

Elevator Scenes

I think in overall we connected as characters. I think that I could have done better at facial expression because my eyes were looking down at the floor so it was hard for the audience to reed my face.

I think that during the scene I showed statues by pushing people away and telling them to get out of my way and criticising people about there clothing. By saying I tried to make my statues higher than the people around me. I also showed motivation that I needed to get out of the elevator to get to my fashion show. By showing motivation the audience can know why I need to get out of the elevator in a hurry.

During the unit I got better at expressing my character’s feelings. The challenging areas for this unit is facial expressions. It is because I tend to face the floor most of the time so it becomes harder for the audience to understand my facial expression.
