My Artist Statement

Hello I finished my painting for art that I was talking about!

painting Nelson Mandela

I painted Nelson Mandela, so I call my painting Madiba.
During making this painting I had some challenges such as: trying to fill everything up with colour. Also a challenge was that we could not use pure black or pure white. On the painting I have some white but it is mixed with a little black you can see the white on the flag and on his shirt.

I think my strengths are painting with a little mixed colours. I think my weakness is drawing shadows such as on the small island on the painting. I solved this problem by mix the yellow with a little purple and that made it look like a real shadow!
I show his identity by putting the South African flag on it. I also show the prison on Robben island where he was locked up for a lot years.
There is also one thing else: his shirt is black and white and that represents prison and black and white people.

My finished Tutorial!

I finished my tutorial of the basics of learn the basics of dutch! Here is it! I hope you enjoy!

I think I Met mostly all of the class criteria but I think I could still some things better: I could maybe add some tips and tricks so maybe tell how to pronounce the words well in Dutch. I could maybe speak some more clear and I think one time I I got a little off track.

I also had a lot of new ideas for a tutorial because I watched also some other tutorials from: Jan, William and Brazil.

First Jan’s tutorial.
From his tutorial I learned that you and also when you are going to learn people something that you first already show the finished product and so can people see what it is about and know what they are learning.

Now Williams tutorial.
From Williams tutorial I learned that your tutorial not have to bee very detailed but simple and I think simple was a good thing for his tutorial and I think also for other tutorials!

Now Brazil’s Tutorial.
From his tutorial I learned that you can have jus a lot filming not some bits where you write what you are going to do! and that makes bit faster behind everything and makes the tutorial not like five minutes(I think that is a little to much for a tutorial).

I still found some things difficult making my tutorial: the editing of the video and all the things I needed to do with the computer to make my tutorial.
I also found difficult finding a good background that is simple and not distracting.

Now…… my tutorial survey!
In this survey you can say you found good and not so good in my tutorial.

Humanities civilisation project

For humanities we made a National geographic.
In the national geographic we showed a by ourself made up civilisation, mine is called: Benji country.

You can recognise a civilisation by: it has a culture, government, economy, river, language, and o way of getting food.
My favourite page of my national geographic is my front page because I think that was very good;

front page of my national geographic

I am proud of myself because I think I did a good job because I worked very hard on it and I think I did a good job.

I learned what a civilisation is and how you can make a your own civilisation and also how can you make a national geographic.

Science salt and sand mixture separating experiment

For Science we had a project that we had to separate sand and salt which are mixed together. I will show you a way how to do that!

First you need : a 100 ml beaker with the salt and sand mixture in it (salt and sand about to 20ml in beaker,  about 50 ml of water, filter paper, funnel, retort stand, ring for retort stand, mixing stick or spoon, an empty beaker, bunsen burner, gas tap, matches, gauze mat, safety mat, tripod and safety goggles.

1. Put the 50 ml water in the sand and salt mixture.
2. Mix it with the mixing stick/spoon until the salt is completely dissolved.
3. fold the filter paper and put the ring for the retort stand on the retort stand.
4.Put the filter paper in  funnel and the funnel in the ring.
5.Put a empty beaker underneath the ring with the funnel filter paper in it.
6.Put the water (with the salt dissolved in it) in the filter paper and let it leak in the beaker.(do this in more times because the filter paper is not big)
7. When that is done you need to  set up the bunsen burner (with all equipment see in image).
8. Put the beaker on the gauze mat on the tripod
9. Plug the rubber tube in to the gas tap
10. Lighten the mach then and hold it at the top of the bunsen burner
11.Put the bunsen on by scrolling the two sort of rings to the right and when that is done the upper one more to the right and  the bottom one to the left. Stop doing that until sou see a light/blue flame.(see Image.
12.Then evaporate all the water until there is no water left and then you will see just the solid salt!
