Responding to The Fault of Our Stars by-John Green

Hi guys!! In English, we’re finding connections through books. The book I chose is called Fault in Our Stars.

The Fault in Our Stars is a book about the love story of 2 teenagers. They met each other in a support group for people who has cancer and they started to love each other. Their are a lot of cute parts in this book but also a lot of sad parts. I’m still reading this book and I wonder if this story is going to be a happy ending or a sad ending. I’m going to make a connection to my self, connection to other texts and connections to other people.

The connection I have in this book is how Hazel sometimes wants to be lazy and doesn’t want to go anywhere. In the weekends, I also don’t want to go anywhere and be lazy. She also spends a lot of time reading books until midnight and I sometimes do that too because it’s a good joy.

This book reminded me of a book called two weeks with the queen. The reason why it was similar is because Colin had a brother he loved and his brother had cancer.Hazel and Augustas has cancer and the love each other.

The connection to the world is that a lot of people has cancer, injuries and diseases. A lot of people can’t cure these things and are having troubles. Hazel is also having a lot of troubles because of cancer and have a lot of troubles.

P.E. Interpersonal skill:SMART Goal

In P.E. we’re making a smart goal for a interpersonal skill.

SMART goal: The interpersonal skill I need to work on is communicating by listening. I always share my ideas but doesn’t listen to peoples’ ideas in P.E. In my other smart goal I said “I don’t share my ideas to my group when we do group talk or work”. But I also said “in subjects I’m good at I share my ideas to my group.” P.E. is one of my favorite and a subject I’m good at so I share a lot of ideas to my group but doesn’t listen to other peoples’ ideas a lot of the times. The reason why I don’t listen to my friends ideas is because sometime I think the idea is wrong. Also I don’t try these ideas I think is wrong but I think I should try these ideas because it might be a very successful idea. If the idea turns out wrong and doesn’t work, I think I can coach the person to change the idea a little bit to make the idea successful. To be able to my goal successful, I’ll try to not say much ideas and listen to other peoples’ idea. I’ll try to do this at least once a day when we do a group work. I’ll know I achieved this goal when I’m able to listen to peoples’ ideas.

Science: Eye Ball

In the science class we did a eye ball dissection and looked at the import parts in a eyeball. The eye was really hard when I tried to cut in. The reason why eyes are hard to cut is because it’s one of the most important parts in our body so our body evolved so that our eyes are hard. Maybe you might be thinking, “we have a walking stick and you don’t die if your blind”. Well long time ago when people use to hunt and didn’t have much technology, we always needed our eyes to hunt and live. If you are blind long time ago basically if your blind, you’ll not be able to fish or hunt. Also if a wild animal was chasing you to kill you if you can’t see the animal basically your dead. So to live we really needed our eyes. This is the reason why the eye was really hard to cut. Anyways, I went kind of off topic but in this blog post I want to teach you guys important parts in or eyes.

This is the cornea. Cornea is like a window or a door to our eyes. Cornea is a clear tissue up in front of the eye that focusses light as it passes through.

Iris and Pupil

The colorful part in the eye is called the iris and the dark black part in the middle of colorful part is called the Pupil. Iris and Pupil is right behind the cornea so it’s really hard to see but iris makes the pupil smaller and bigger. There is muscle attached to the Iris so thats why the iris can move. Changing the size of the pupil can control how much lights gets in the eye. If it’s dark the iris makes the pupil big because there is not much light focused if the size of the pupil is small. When it’s bright, the iris makes the pupil small.

The lens is behind the pupil and the iris and it focuses the light to the back of the eye. This is when seeing really starts to happen. The lens is attached to do ciliary and the ciliary changes the size of the lens. This helps you focus on something close or something far away. To help you see something close the lens become thicker. When you want to see something far away, the lens become thinner.

This is thee retina. It’s located in the back of the eyeball. In the retina there is millions of light sensitive cells called rods and cones. There are approximately 120 million rods and 7 million cones in a eyeball. Rods see white black and green. Rods helps us to see shape and form of a thing. Cones are sensitive to red green or blue. But if they gather we can see millions of different  colors.

Optic nerve is located behind the retina. It carries all the nerve message that the retina to the brain. First you see things upside down because of the lens but when it goes to the brain the brain flicks it up.

Thanks for reading guys!!

SMART goal

 Community based goal

I want to be able to give more ideas in group works in every subjects. In a lot of classes when I do group works I sometimes think my ideas are wrong and  doesn’t share it with the group. I think I should share some of my ideas to my group because that idea could turn out to be a successful idea.  I’ll try to achieve this goal by at least giving 3 or 4 ideas to my group every time we do group works. This goal is achievable because I share my ideas to my group if I’m good at that subject but if I’m not good at that subject, I don’t share much ideas. I just have to be able to share ideas in subjects I’m not good at so I think It’s not gonna be super hard to achieve this goal but it’s  going to be challenging. I want to be able to achieve this goal by the next semester. I’ll know I achieved this goal when I’m constantly sharing ideas to my group in every subjects.

Academic based goal

My academic based smart goal is to at least get a 7 out of 8 in a math test in any criteria. The reason why I want to achieve this goal is because I want to get better at math.  This goal is achievable because I usually get a 6 out of 8 in math and 7 out of 8 is just one score better than 6 out of 8. To achieve this goal I will review everything I learned in math class for the past few weeks 15 minutes, 3 to 4 times a week. The reason why I’m going to do this is because in tests, I usually forget  questions that we already did in class. I want to be able to achieve this goal by the end of this semester. I will know I achieved this goal when I get at least 7 out of 8 in a math test.
