Art Print Reflection

Hello we have a new unit in art: over and over painting. We had to carve and print a paper.

My pattern was very close to Indian paintings. I tried to use Indian and American patterns. That way, I made something similar to a soccer pitch with random shapes on the paper. I wanted to chose the 2 patterns because I thought Indian patterns were very unique and cool. Also I thought American patterns matched Indian patterns.

I couldn’t finish my printing. I think I couldn’t finish because I lost 2 lessons. But I think the main reason is because I didn’t come to the open studio. I think I was not smart and didn’t think about the future. From next time, I think I will concentrate on my work on art and come to the open studio.

Art Reflection

Hi guys. In this couple of weeks we had a unit on art and we needed to paint a portrait of someone you know/yourself in a paper.

This is my portrait.

During this unit I think I improved on my drawing skills and blending skills. I learned how to blend well from color to color. I think I got more used to drawing. Also in this unit, I improved on my creativity skills. I think this unit made me think a lot and made me learn more techniques.

I didn’t finish my portrait painting because I didn’t spend my time well. I think I should have painted the inside of the drawing first because my complete product was a little bit sketchy. I think I should have either focused a lot on my background or my detailed painting. I tried to blend my painting from top to bottom but it didn’t work as I thought it would. I was drawing Kenryo and I thought about drawing his passions.
We learned 3 different types of portraits. First, is social. This drawing style can represent someone how they are in public or how they communicate others in the outside of the person. Then, there is aesthetic. This is a type where you show their passions, and their beauty. At last, there is political which is a drawing style that shows the strongness of the person and the power of the person. This can mean to express their power.

I chose aesthetic painting because I knew Kenryo a lot in the inside. I knew about his thoughts and ideas, what he has so I decided aesthetic painting can be a good option for me to paint him.

I tried to use different colors to express Kenryo. So I decided his background can be from midday to midnight. I tried to blend the background colors well so it looks like a natural time change. I used this because Kenryo spends his time wisely. In the detailed part of the painting, I tried to express Kenryo as a passioned, active person. I tried to draw main things Kenryo had, and things he loved to do in his life.

I tried to use my best brush work on my background/blending. At first, I couldn’t blend and was having trouble mixing colors (see bottom of portrait). But once I learned how to blend, and knew how to blend, I became better and I mixed my blending easier. I experimented on mixing many different colors and tested what a color will be. I also tried to make my blending unique because I tried to paint my drawing with a mixture of a thick brush and a thin brush so the combinations will get well.

I think I should have put more shading since I didn’t think about shades so if I had put in some shades on various parts, I think my portrait could have been better.
