Third Culture Kid

I was born in the Philippines to Filipino parents. However before I turned one, my dad decided to accept a job based in Jakarta, Indonesia. I was too young to remember anything about Indonesia that time but after three years my dad was presented with another opportunity to explore a different country. But this time in Tokyo. It was time for us to pack up our bags and look for a new house. My family and I have now become accustomed to this routine as in the span of fourteen years, we have moved seven times and lived in five different countries.

Most of the time, I am very thankful for being a third culture kid, as there are a lot of perks. Some of these is getting to meet people from various backgrounds and being exposed to multiple cultures. Not just the one you live in, but also the culture of your friends who too live outside their home country.
