We have had quite a few of collaborative assignments, and I believe that I demonstrated this skill well. For example, in I&S we had a presentation about England’s Influence on Kenya. We got a lot of detailed research that was relevant to our topic. We used reliable sources, and we were able to cite our sources correctly. Another example was in PE, when we had to come up with a dance for 40 seconds. My partner and I both contributed, and we became closer. I could do a bit better on collaborating because I am usually with the same people. I would like to work on this by being a risk-taker, and maybe working with people that I don’t usually talk to.
I believe that I showed good communication in drama, when I did a presentation about hand puppets with a partner. We were told to present in a creative way, so my partner and I decided to use hand puppets. I think that our idea for presenting creatively really caught the audiences attention. Using the puppets were a bit hard, yet we were still able to communicate well. Another time I showed good communication was in our English Video. We were able to show our new perspective on the scene in a clear way, by using different elements. Such as, music, filters, and tone. I believe that I could improve in my communication skills by finding new ways to present and show research. For example, if I was assigned a presenting task, I would try to find new and more creative ways to present.
Almost all of my projects this year have required research. For example in Spanish, we had to research a recipe for the dish and make it. In addition, we also had to do research on the country itself. We needed to know what time they ate, and what they ate. I also used my research in science class, when I did a blog post about which materials go into an IPhone, and how those materials were used. My whole blog post was information from cites, so it was mandatory to find and use reliable sources.
I believe we showed good self-management during our algebra unit in math. We had a chart that hung on the wall and every time we completed a section in the textbook, we would put a sticker on the part that we completed. This helped us stay organized, because if we ever forgot where we were, we could always look on the chart. Another time we used self-management well, was in Design. We have one doc that holds all of our work, so it is all in one place.
I believe that I showed thinking skills in Music for my summative assessment. We had to choose a song that we could change into our key, make it into a backing track, and then play it along with our backing track. We also had to make a paper with the music on it, and then put little symbols for each part of the music. I believe that I also used my thinking skills in I&S when I had to make a comic book about a renaissance man. We had to think of a way to make them travel in time, and we had to think of who he would meet in the future. I do believe I could improve on this skill because I often am not very creative, and I cannot find different ways to approach assignments.
