Here at YIS, we are so excited to see the fantastic conversations that #beyondlaptops has started among the participants and beyond! It’s great to see that our two-day event has continued to inspire school, country, regional and worldwide collaboration.
As an open and collaborative school community, we would like to offer a few opportunities to continue thinking, sharing and creating together:
- Let’s make this #beyondlaptops blog collaborative! Any participants (or other interested educators) who would like to share their reflections through this forum are welcome, please let us know if you’re interested either by contacting Kim, or leaving a comment here.
- There’s been great interest in sharing essential documents from our individual schools to help create a repository of documentation and great ideas. #beyondlaptops participant and YIS teacher, Rebekah Madrid, has created this wiki to help us compile anything and everything that the #beyondlaptops community feels would be relevant. Join the wiki so we can create a home-base for all of the essential documents we create!
- James MacDonald, our YIS Headmaster, and our admin team are committed to hosting #beyondlaptops again next year, and we’re already thinking about perhaps hosting two: one in the first semester to get us started as a close-knit community, and a second one in April/May to continue the conversations and push us even further.
We have another great project in the works that we think our #beyondlaptops participants will be very interested in hearing about… More on that soon!
As always, looking forward to collaborating, learning and creating together!

Perfect. Thanks Kim. This why I love you guys at YIS, you do instead of talk. This is all I was proposing– a place where we can dump resources and look for similarities and/or gaps. We take things that exists tweak them for our needs or create new documentation as needed.
Perhaps as usually I was over thinking this whole thing. Thanks for taking the initiative Rebekah and who ever else was involved.
I will wait till I chat with the peeps at UWCSEA to see what we add, but I will also introduce this wiki to our team here at SWA and who will be the connection from Jakarta.
Would love to be added to the blog! Excited to see where this goes.
Kim, thanks for being a great, positive influence in the Ed Tech world. Please thank your admin team as well. I speak for KIS when I say that we would love to participate and share our resources/documents with the larger community.
Cheers and thanks,
Tim
