At any time you can make a positive comment about the YIS blogs.  Here is a video guide (created by third graders) if you need it. You might also like to see the whole post about quality comments by Ms. Yollis’s Third Grade Class.

At the beginning of the year we engage the children with understanding our Grade 3 home learning why-cant-i-skip-my-20-minutes-of-reading-tonight. The children will use a small blue notebook to help them develop responsibility as well as to help them with organization and time management. New or unknown vocabulary and spelling can be written in the back of the Blue Book. This notebook will be taken home and returned daily in a special zip folder. Daily reading is extremely important. This article entitled, “The Long Term Effects of Skipping your Reading Homework” has a very good image of how 20 minutes a day of reading makes a big difference. We also highly recommend and encourage reading to your child, this could range from chapter books, to blog posts, to appropriate world news.
