For Grades 6 – 9

Good morning,

Before the ISA tests are conducted starting next week, we want to ensure that your computers (and especially Safari) meet the requirements for the test.

Instructions are below, and only take a few minutes to complete.

*** NOTE: For ISA testing, please use SAFARI.

Instructions for running the browser test:

  1. Open SAFARI
  2. Open the Start page (http://start.yis.ac.jp).
  3. Click the link at the top called ISA Browser Test. A new window will pop up saying tests are being run.
  4. Results will be shown. If all items are displayed in dark green with checkmarks beside them, the browser is okay.
  5. If any items appear in RED, please come to the IT Office today or tomorrow so we can fix the issue.

  • Creative Writing Workshops (Repeat)

Holly Thompson is our visiting author this year! We will have creative writing workshops in whole grade levels at the following times:

We will be doing lots of creative writing, so bring your English notebook and something to write with! (Mr. Hutton)


  • Kanto Plains Fair Meeting

Can all students who are going to the Kanto Plains fair at Seisen on Saturday meet me for a brief meeting in M313 at recess today.

Medical Check up tomorrow, February 3rd, Friday.
Your tutor will hand out the urine kit to bring it home. You need to bring a morning sample tomorrow for the medical.

Championship week, is upon us as almost every team in both the MS and HS has their final tournament this upcoming weekend. Good luck to all the teams traveling to other venues, and hope to see many of you at the KANTO Field Hockey championship at YCAC, and AISA Girls Basketball at YIS!

Games this week:

HS Girls Basketball– AISA Tournament begins on Friday, February 3rd, tip-off at 10:00 am, with 2nd game at 1:00 pm. Tournament continues at 8:30 am on Saturday.

For those who are not able to attend but would like to follow along, the games will be streamed at https://www.facebook.com/yisathletics/.

HS Girls Field Hockey– KANTO Tournament @ YCAC begins Saturday, February 4th at 9:20 am and goes till 3:00 pm.

HS Boys Soccer– HS boys soccer season begins on Monday 6th February. We will be meeting on the turf from 4-6pm, for an informal start to the season. All from Grades 9-12 who are interested in coming out for for the team are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please email Mr Claydon (claydonl@yis.ac.jp).

Hello Dragons,

The HS Student Council will be hosting a movie night next Tuesday, February 7th, in the Language building after school. Movies being screened are Me Before You, Sherlock Season4 Episode1, the Breakfast Club, and Lights Out. Bring your friends and enjoy a movie! Please bring your own snacks. Hope to see you there.
