  • Conference: Women in Japan 2017: Problems, Possibilities, Power

The American School in Japan is hosting a one-day conference, Women in Japan 2017: Problems, Possibilities, Power. This conference will be held at ASIJ on Wednesday, March 8th from 1-5:45 pm. and is sponsored by their HS club SAGE (Students Advocating for Gender Equality).

This conference is an opportunity for high school and university students to explore the current status of women in Japan. Participants will assess current barriers facing women and explore the possibilities for future empowerment. Keynote speakers include Fumiko Hayashi, Mayor of Yokohama, and Kuniko Inoguchi, House of Councillors Member.

The cost of the conference is 500 Yen.

If you are interested in attending this conference, please attend a meeting in Ms. McDiarmid’s office on Monday 20th February at 10:40 a.m. (Ms. McDiarmid)

The Library recently registered for a new digital library: the Churchill Archive. It is a digital library which is highly useful for I&S and History students. Learn more about this resource in this library blog post. You can access it without logging in anytime at school. To access at home, the username is yokohama and the password is dragon. (Ms. Katy)
