  • Lost and Found

Lost and found items are shown in the foyer of the main building. Anything not picked up by Dec. 15, they will be discarded during the winter break. (Mrs. Watanabe)

  • YIS Snow Club Waxing and Sharpening Fundraiser for Chill Japan

Heading-off to the snow this winter break? Need your skis or snowboard in good condition for the slopes? The YIS Snow Club is offering a waxing and sharpening service to raise money for Chill Japan. Bring your gear to school between December 4th and 8th, drop them off in M206 before 9AM, and we’ll have them ready within a week.

Waxing and sharpening: 1000 yen per board or skis.

All proceeds will go to support Chill Japan, and NGO helping Japanese children affected by natural disasters. ( (Mr. McKeown)

  • Special Olympics at YIS

The students who signed up for this Saturday’s Kanagawa Special Olympics session will have a meeting on December 6th, Wednesday(Day 7) during morning recess. Please come to M202! (Mrs. Clark and Mr. Hauet)

  • Message from Van der Poel

Good Morning YIS!

First of all the Van der Poel group would like to extend a massive thank you to the entire YIS community for their donations over the past two weeks to raise a grand total of 407,156 yen. This money will be allocated to the two homes and the school for the blind so is greatly appreciated. The donations also contributed heavily to the christmas party held on Saturday, going towards presents and stocking fillers. It was a fantastic day with great fun, food and performances with the children. It was great to have the opportunity to brighten their day with the help of your donations. (Van der Poel)

  • Thank you to Van der Poel members and performers

A big thank you to all students who helped make this year’s Christmas party on Saturday a great success! We would like to recognize in particular all Van der Poel members who contributed from early November till Saturday. Students were busy collecting donations, wrapping presents, making decorations and on the day they showed great commitment towards their guests. Special thanks also go to guest performers who contributed their talents on the day in honor of the homes: Ben Zhang, Ruchir Varma, Pia Krickhahn and Julia Donkers, and Chiara Rodrigues and Eduardo Espinosa.   • Support for Personal Project (Repeat)

Hi. My name is An from grade 10 and for my personal project I will be opening a pop up shop in the library today. It will be up all day from 8 till 5. There will be a mixture of products – some old and some new with items like dvds, pencil cases, pens, stickers and more. All of the proceeds will be donated to SympaMeals, an organization in Vietnam that provides meals for cancer patients who cannot afford food. Please come by and support! – Thank you, (An, Grade 10)
