End of Year Reflection – Change

Goal: To create a self-portrait of you, showing how you have been impacted by your learning, within the context of one of 3 Global Contexts.

You will answer the following:

How did your learning this year CHANGE?IMPACT?:

  1. What and how you THINK
  2. What you SAY
  3. What you FEEL
  4. What you SHOW in your actions
  5. What you WANT to CHANGE

What will this look like?

YOU – with a

  1. Thought bubble
  2. Speech bubble
  3. A HEART
  4. Something in your hand
  5. Something under your foot



  1. Take a picture of yourself.
  2. Put it in the middle of a page – not too big, not too small.
  3. Now THINK – what were the themes this year, what were the big ideas? The SoIs? The concepts? The Life Lessons? How has what YOU have learned CHANGED how and who you are?
  4. Title the page with one of the following Global Contexts that best fits your reflection:
    1. Identities and Relationships:Who we are: an inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.
    2. Fairness and Development:  Sharing the planet: an inquiry into rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution.
    3. Personal and Cultural Expression: How we express ourselves: an inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic.
  5. Print it out! Hang it up in the class!

Grade 7 Colonization Unit Reflection


  • Choose 1 question each from Backward, Inward, Outward, and Forward. (so four questions in total). Here is the list.
  • Answer the four questions you chose thinking about the Empires unit.
  • Create a Google Slides presentation to put on your BLOG
  • Try to include Learner Profile attributes OR Approaches to Learning skills
  • Include visuals…screenshots of your work, links to googledocs, etc.

Then write a short reflection on one of the controversies presented, in your journal.


Then read THIS article.

And this analysis of the article, and write some reflection in your journal.

Try to pinpoint what YOU feel the issue is. Analyse it. Break it down into parts and think about it.

Create KQs (yes, more than one) and look at the issue from different perspectives.

Write a counterclaim. Analyse it.


I expect at least 2 full pages of writing in your journal. It can be train of thought, it can be more. But I look forward to reading it next week.
