The grade 3 students are finishing up their unit on puppetry. The students went through the entire process from creation to performance. They began with writing stories and scripts with the theme of recycling and reusing garbage. The students brought in used materials to make sock puppets. Each student developed their character with a special voice. The students practiced putting it all together and will present their finished shows to the kindergarten and grade one classes.

Students in grade 3 have been busy the last few weeks creating their own puppets. Each student gathered materials, constructed their puppet, gave it a name and personality. This fit in nicely with work grade 3 did earlier in the year creating characters. The puppets will form groups after the break to share a recycling, reusing or reducing story to go along with their unit in the classroom. They have already developed stories and began writing scripts.

For the final project, the students chose a character, wrote the character’s introduction and three questions to be asked. They became the character in an interview. The work the students did was impressive. They were able to become the character. Please view the interviews below.
