For parents and friends that have met me in the past 5 years, they sometimes wonder why I am teaching drama. They know me as a kindergarten teacher, administrator or early years teacher of 3 and 4 year olds. For those of you who have known me longer, it makes perfect sense why I am so happy teaching in the Black Box. I feel right at home and get to teach the best part of the day to young people.
I started my career as a dancer in San Diego and soon after Los Angeles. I worked in stage shows and dance companies. When I was 19 years old, I auditioned for the television show ‘Fame’. After three auditions I was cast as one of the dancers on the television show. I danced and acted in over 50 episodes of ‘Fame’ over four years. I traveled to New York, Europe and Israel with the ‘Kids From Fame’. After working on the television series, I stayed in Los Angeles for a year working in the beginning of the music video era.
It was time to start a new chapter in my life. I re-enrolled at University of California San Diego and graduated with a degree in Communication. Through my time in university I continued to perform, teach dance classes and choreograph.
Working as a drama teacher, I feel like I get to combine my many interests. I love working with young people and teaching. I love theater and performing.
See if you can find me in some videos…
