1S Starts First Unit in Drama

1S has started their first unit in Drama.

The creative process involves joining in, exploring and taking risks.

  • Working together collaboratively

  • Creating a safe environment

  • Being a risk-taker

Our first lessons have focused on cooperating with the whole group, in small groups and with partners. The students worked together to create “partner moves”.

Welcome to Drama

1S has started drama classes every Monday for 45 minutes. This is their first experience attending drama in the Black Box classroom. The 1S students will have three units of study during the school year.

Grade 1 Central Ideas
• The creative process involves joining in, exploring and taking risks.
• We can use our whole body as a means of expression.
• Writers can use their imagination to entertain others and to explore feelings.

Learners show an understanding that:
• drama can be used as a form of communication and expression
• they need to cooperate and communicate with others in creating drama
• they have a responsibility as an audience
• they are able to respond to their own artwork as well as the work of others
