1.Please draw Tanoshii (fun), Ureshii, (Happy),Kanashii (sad) and Kowai(Scary) faces on the worksheet.

Grade 1 Kuma class performed the play “Ookina Jyagaimo” during Grade 1 Book Launch.

They used their imaginations and made a story based on “Ookina Kabu” .

It was a fantastic play. Grade Job to all the Kuma class students!

Play ‘Number game’ with your family.

1. Ask you family to choose the number from the number sheet. 

2. You are going to write that number on paper. 

Let’s try 1000 and 10000 as well! 

Please take a look at the ‘counting’ worksheet and read numbers in Japanese.

Circle after you read everything and ask your parents to write their signature.

1. Practice Ookina Jyagaimo song with gesture. 

2. Count 1-30 in Japanese. (You can use a worksheet. ) Ask you parents to write a signature on the sheet.

In Japan, May 5th is a Children’s day. We wish all the children to grow healthy. 

In Japanese class, we talked about Koinori /Kabuto and made a Kabuto (Samurai helmet) wish newspaper. 

All the students enjoyed making and wearing it!

In May and June, we are going to study:

Central Idea:Writers can use their imagination to entertain others and to explore feelings.

Based on the story called ‘Ookina Kabu’, students in Kuma class are creating their play ‘Ookina Jyagaimo’.

Please encourage your child to use Japanese outside of the classroom.

Also, please tell them to record what they said in Japanese logbook.
