G5 students have had a session with our calligraphy teachers, Nakabayashi sensei, at ICJC today, as a part of UoI, Aesthetic expressions. They learned that Japanese calligraphy is the art of moment, and it is different from ‘shuji’, the handwriting practice.

The class has been discussing about their learning in Japanese and effective ways to study in class. Students are expected to complete the below tasks and submit them by Day 6 Thursday 16th Feb.

  • Complete self reflection form for their celebration unit. Please make sure to consider why it is easy or difficult.
  • Fill in Log book about their experience of celebrating Setsubun, Bean Throwing Festival, and any other Japanese experiences they may have had during the ski break.

The students should spend 50 min max on the tasks.

Students are expected to carry on with their celebration book page for 50 min max. Particularly layout of the page and rough stitches. The due is Day 6 Monday 30th January.

The page should have below points.

  • Title (What celebration in which country)
  • 4 simple descriptions about what people do for the celebration of your choice.
  • A cartoon conversation using “want to…” たいです.

  • symbol(s) representing good luck for the coming year (the year of animal for 2017 is chicken)
