The somaly mam foundation is a non-profit organisation, that is all their profits go back into the company. This however can lead to problematic situations where the money going back into the company can come out as wages or company expenses. When it comes to charities this is not the ideal situation as most of their revenue is from donations, whether its from individual people or larger companies donating money. But being a non-profit organisation means that somaly mam foundation is required to post a financial report of their transaction each year. This allows anybody to check the legitimacy of that company.

An example of one of these financial reports from 2012

This financial report was done by an outside company, so the reliability of the report is garantied with the company performing the service. From the 2012 financial report we can see that 15.3% of the revenue goes to general and administrative. Salaries and business expenses are included in this section. The amount of money going into their programs and services is around 40.9% of the total revenue went into that. These values vary from year to year but have stayed quite consistent.
