STEP 1 – VIDEO yourself playing the 3 bass line challenges (easy, medium, difficult challenges) with your left hand while playing the blues chords with your right hand using a shuffle rhythm (both hands should be played at the same time as much as possible, if you can not play both hands together play one hand at a time). Start with the easiest bass line and see how many you can complete.
More points (7/8 if you post all three base lines including the walking bass lines performed with both hands at the same time)
– Create and share your VIDEOS with Mr. Johnston on the Practice Journal Don’t forget to include your personal in-depth reflective comments.
The following bass lines are written in the key of C Major.
Left Hand Only for Bass Lines – right hand will play the chords
This is the simplest version. Each whole note in the bass line is held for 4 BEATS or the whole measure.
To start first play just the bass line with your LEFT HAND ONLY.
Remember it is written in the BASS CLEF not the TREBLE clef so the starting pitch is a C.
Once you can play it with the left hand add the RIGHT HAND playing the triad chords with inversions using a shuffle bouncing rhythm.
VIDEO YOUR PERFORMANCE and move to the next level of the challenge and follow the same sequence.
