Monday-Friday 9:00-9:10 Week A & B
Tutor Periods:
Thursdays 3:15-3:55pm Week A
Fridays 1:55-2:35pm Week B
What do we do?
As well as the day to day housekeeping (registration and notices), we sometimes look at issues such as time management and goal setting. In tutor period, we may also explore community awareness and value visits with a younger grade level. Other times, we just chill out listening to music, chatting and relaxing before the day begins.
What if I’m late?
If you are late during tutor group in the morning, please go straight to H110 and Mr. M will mark you tardy. You should have either a note from your parents or if delayed by train the appropriate form from the station. Those without a note or train delay form will be given an unexcused tardy.
If you arrive to school after tutor group in the morning (i.e. after 9:10am), please sign in with the HS secretary, Ms. Shiina on the 2F of the main building.
What if I’m absent?
If you will be absent your parents should advise Ms. Shiina by phone or email (shiinam [at] yis.ac.jp) before the day begins.
What were some recent Activities?
9M Tutor Group 2012-13
Field Studies, October 14-18: The whole of Grade 9 embarked upon a journey to Phuket for their Field Studies Trip. It was a wonderful experience trekking in the rain forest, watching rubber sap being harvested, seeing gibbons, planting mangroves, reef snorkelling and painting a school for poor Burmese children. The Grade 9s also had the opportunity to organise a games morning for Thai orphans and challenge the British International School students to some improvisation one night. We ate absolutely scrumptious food and stayed in comfortable dorms on the BIS campus. Overall, it was fun filled but extremely busy 5 days.

9M Tutor Group 2011-12
Monday November 14th, 2011: 9M visited 2C’s art room and helped their buddies paint landscapes.
Monday February 6th, 2012: 9M recently had a Values Visit to Grade 2C, where students from 2C shared their portfolios with the Grade 9s and received feedback from them too.
Monday April 30th, 2012: 9M took Grade 2C to their art room to explore the dos and don’ts, especially regarding safety and the use of computers and the internet. They then created a poster about cyber safety with them by using an entertaining sketching program.
