MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL

  • Grade 6-12:

This coming Saturday November 20th, the first ever TED xYouth @Tokyo (an independent organised TED event for students) will be held at Tokyo International School (TIS), from 10 am – 3pm. This is an event only for students  and only for students aged 11-18 years old. 6-12minute presentations and entertainment will be on hand. This is an event not to be missed. If you would like to go, first discuss with your parents, (chaperones from the school will not be provided -only for students remember- and students are expected to go independently). If you have permission then sign up at youth@tedxtokyo.com also adding your name to the Student Council notice board so that we have an idea who will be attending. Thank you.   • Gr. 6-12 Session two activities

Session two activities have now started and many students have not signed up online. Please do this by the end of the week so supervisors can know who is supposed to be in their group.If you are having trouble doing this see Mr. Reynolds. (Mr. Reynolds)

  • Taiko club

The YIS Taiko group will be rehearsing today in the Kirin Band room at 4:00. (Mr. Johnston)

  • Rock climbing club

Could all students interested in joining the rock climbing club please meet Mrs Buchanan between 1pm- 1:15 in the caffeteria today (Thursday) the first session will be tomorrow after school. (Mrs. Buchanan)

Please come this week to the French classroom either after school or during lunch time : only MS lunch today and MS/HS lunch times on Friday. (Mrs. Maeda)

Could all those students who have signed up to help wrapping presents on Saturday 27 please come to the biology lab at 10:40 today for a brief meeting. Permission slips will be handed out. Any new students wanting to help are also welcome. (Mrs. Maeda)

  • Green Club

The average American produces about 40,000 pounds of CO2 emissions per year. Together, we use nearly a million dollars worth of energy every minute, night and day, everyday of the year. Cutting down on electricity use is very easy, try to make surethat all unnecessary lights are turned off when leaving a room or the house.Wear more clothes in the house to cut down on heating over the winter. Come to YIS YOGA this week!

This is the time to set up a good routine of exercise, to keep us health and motivated over the winter months. Attending these yoga classes can also count towards your CASS hours.

  • Message from the School Store

Soccer and Field Hockey socks are now available at the school store, 600 yen per pair.  Field Hockey shin guards also available for 2600 yen, and hockey sticks from 9500–11,000 yen.
