  • Lunch on the roof

Yesterday, students having lunch on the roof of the middle building put their plates in the rubbish bin rather than take them back to the cafeteria for cleaning. This is the second time this has occurred. It is the last – if it happens again, the roof will be out of bounds for lunch and break time eating. (Mr. Snowball)

  • HSB Football Update

The HSB traveled to Kobe to represent YIS at the WJAA Tournament this past weekend.
Not having played as a full squad since the end of the regular season, the team did well to take third place, finishing with 3 wins and 1 loss.

Highlights include Nobe scoring a goal, as well as Shohei making the final stop on the 5th shot of a PK final!!!

Thanks to Ms.Buehler and Mr.Hilbourne for chaperoning the trip, it couldn’t have happened without you both. (Mr. Tracey)

  • HSB Soccer update

Apologies for missing out the key result in yesterday’s report, but the HSB deserve congratulations, as they took third place overall in their weekend tournament. (Mr. Tracey)

  • Track and Field

All athletes on participating in Track and Field must attend a short meeting on Tuesday after school in the gym, from 4pm on. At this meeting, you will have your only chance to register for events you would like to participate in for the upcoming meet this Saturday. If you are not at the gym, you will essentially have missed your opportunity to compete this weekend, as the registration deadline for events is close, and Coach Buehler needs to enter your selections.
Thanks, see you there. (Mr. Tracey)

  • Weekend Sports recap for MS/HS

Last weekend, the HSG Football team traveled to Nagoya, where both the the JV and the Varsity teams competed in the annual WJAA tournament for the larger of the Kansai schools.
The varsity team did very well, taking out second place, and the JV squad, playing against stronger and older players at the varsity level, did very well, and although finishing lower in the standings, played with determination and drive, especially in the game against CA, in which they lost 2-0, but played incredibly well against their varsity team, which was amongst the best in the tournament.

The HSB team also played in the WJAA tournament, finishing in 3rd place after a rain soaked day of qualifying on Friday. Last night, they took on our friendly rivals from St.Maur up at YCAC, and demolished their side in a 4-1 win, coming from being down 1-0. Congrats to the team, and to those who helped Kai Howe to his first, of what we all hope to be many, hat tricks!

The MSG Basketball team traveled to Seisen last Saturday, and took on a very experienced program, with all YIS teams dropping their games, but showing some impressive tenacity and resilience. We are looking forward to seeing them progress with each game and practice.

This Saturday marks the first Track and Field meet of the year, with our Dragons heading up to Kinuta Park to compete in the first International Schools meet of the year. Wish them luck!

This Thursday our varsity girls at set to play against SIS at YCAC, and then both the varsity and JV teams will host ISSH on Saturday, starting at 9am, with varsity leading things off for YIS.

This Saturday’s MSB Baseball game as been postponed, and will be replayed in April…our scrimmage from last Saturday vs. St.Maur which was rained out, is also scheduled for a date to be determined soon.

Go Dragons, hope to see you out supporting, and be sure to check the website for bus departure times! (Mr. Tracey)
