Wed Oct 10th and Thurs Oct 11th – China’s anti natal policy

Last lesson we discussed and evaluated the pro natal policy in Japan and as a class added notes. I have put these in order with an intro and conclusion  Evaluation of Japan’s pro natal policy    It would be an ideal answer for a straightforward question like this in an exam ( make a copy for yourself and read over )

‘With reference to an example you have studied evaluate the effectiveness of a pro natal policy’ (10)

They could ask you a similar question with a different approach

‘Solving the ageing population in Japan is as simple as enforcing a two-child policy.’ Discuss this statement. [10]

Make a plan for this answer over the weekend.

WED 10th Oct – Today we will look at CHINA’S ANTI NATAL POLICY – ‘The one child policy’

If you are absent read the articles and watch the videos. Look at the Successes and failures doc and make a copy as this is what we will work on.

As you read and watch the videos complete your 4P study notes, with a special focus on the policies, the power balance these involve (people, government, women, children, migrants etc) and the possibilities they entail for China and it’s people.

Successes and failures I have started this doc – make your own copy and add to it

This is useful to plan a case study answer and relate to the 4 Ps and the geographic causes socio/economic, environmental, demographic, political..

With reference to an anti natal policy you have studied evaluate it’s success. (10) – Due Mon, Oct 29th.
