After completing a vocational education course in grade 10 of highschool, Merilyn decided that she was going to become a pharmacologist. After doing 1 year of pharmacology during the 2nd year of her bachelors degree, that all changed.
Since completing university, Merilyn has worked for more than 10 years as a science and maths teacher but this has been interrupted with periods away from teaching where she has worked in a variety of different fields. Some of these include working as a research chemist in Perth, the waterfront director on an American summer camp, a nanny in London and most recently as a hostess on a cruise ship!
As a science and maths teacher specialising in chemistry, she has worked in New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Ghana and is now very happy to make her home here in Japan.
